今回のお歌は、バースデーケーキのキャンドルを吹き消す前に、願い事をするように促す場面が描かれています🎂🕯️
「5本のキャンドルが明るく燃えている」「それを全部吹き消したら、願いが叶う」——
そんなシンプルで優しいストーリーと、落ち着いたテンポのメロディが印象的な一曲です。
実際のお誕生日でも使いやすく、キャンドルを前にして“Let’s make a wish!”と声をかけたり、”Blow the candles out!” と促したり…

今回は、“if” を使った仮定の文（条件文）の基本について、わかりやすく整理してみましょう✏️🌱
✅ 「if」はどんな意味？
英語の “if” と聞くと、まず思い浮かぶのは「もし〜なら」という意味ですよね😊
でも実は、“if” には主に2つの使い方があります。
① 名詞節の if（〜かどうか）
これは、「〜かどうか」を尋ねたり、述べたりするときに使います。
📌 例文：
I don’t know if she is at home.
（彼女が家にいるかどうか、私は分かりません）
→ この場合、“if” は「〜かどうか」という 内容そのもの を表しているので、“名詞節” と呼ばれます。
② 副詞節の if（もし〜なら）
こちらが今回のお歌で使われているタイプ。
“もし〜ならば” という 条件 を示すときに使われます。
📌 例文（DWE Book 9, p.24）：
If I were tall, I’d play basketball!
（もし背が高かったら、バスケットボールをするのに）
→ “if” のあとに続く動詞の時制や、主節の “would” などが、仮定法の特徴です。
✅ 仮定法と条件文のちがいは？
実は、”仮定法” と “条件文” はかなり近い意味ですが、
現実の可能性があるかどうか によって分かれます👇

| 仮定法（過去） | If I had a magic wand, I would grant your wish. | 現実には起きていない前提での仮定 |

ifがインプットできるように本格的に出てくるのはライムですが、実はブルーから出てきています。
初めてライムで出会うと”ライムの壁”を感じてしまいますが、ちゃんとブルーから種は撒かれています🌱
英語苦手ママはもうifと聞くだけで頭真っ白になるのですが、まずはこの曲のフレーズのまま再現遊びで言い慣れていきましょう！
ifを使って自分で声掛けをすることは英語苦手ママにとっては難しいので、まずは出てきたifフレーズをそのまま声掛けで使うようにしています。
Goomiesにも、”If you don’t brush your teeth,〜.”と出てきたりするので、日常で使いやすいですよ🙌
